The third day of the 2013 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) European Futurity & NRHA Show offered four NRHA ancillary classes: the Roleski NRHA Intermediate Open and Limited Open, as well as the Arcese NRHA Intermediate Non Pro and Limited Non Pro.
Jeannette Krähenbühl Wins Roleski Intermediate Open
In a field of 23 horse-rider-combinations, Jeannette Krähenbühl (SUI) and Dr Lee Hook (Ray Gay Quixote x Chickadualsha) took the lead in the Roleski €3,500-added Intermediate Open. The two earned a 221 after a beautiful smooth ride with perfect speed control and great turns and stops. The stallion was bred and is owned by Glis Ranch / Michael Kolbe. Jeannette who is a past NRHA Non Pro World Champion, got the horse last spring shortly before the NRHA European Futurity and claimed the 2012 NRHA European Futurity Champion Level 2 Open title as well as the Level 3 Open Reserve Champion title. She’s been showing the stallion ever since winning the Intermediate Open at the Equita Lyon in France with him. Dr Lee Hook has more than $33,000 NRHA LTE. “He is simply a miracle,” says Jeannette. “He was with me all the time, and everything felt great starting right with the first circle. This class was supposed to be a test run for the European Derby, and Dr Lee Hook did a great job! A big thank you to Rudi Kronsteiner who trained him and supports us all the time.” Miroslav Baniari and Tag Along Shirley (Whiz N Tag Chex x Pines BH x Great Pine), owned by Wolfgang Hammer, placed second scoring a 216.5.
Austrian Barbara Hengge and Wimpy Snapper (Wimpys Little Step x Shania Snapper), owned by Romana Erblich claimed the Roleski €350-added Limited Open Championship after a fine, flawless run scoring a 215.5. Valentina Sagmeister and Smart Feejac (Smartin x Jacs Reingirl), owned by Nicole Hawle, placed second (210.5). Barbara Hengge was Level 2 Open Reserve Championship and Level 1 Open Championship at the 2012 Austrian Reining Horse Association Western Star 4-Year-Old Futurity with this horse and placed ninth at the NRHA Germany Breeder’s Futurity Bit Open. “Wimpy is a horse you can absolutely rely on,” says Barbara. The gelding was bred by Morey Fisk who also trained him. Normally, the horse is ridden by his owner who brings him to our place for three months each year.”
Ramstorfer Claims Arcese Intermediate and Limited Non Pro
With a score of 211.5, Austrian Thomas Ramstorfer and his Colonel Snapple won both the Arcese €2,500-added Intermediate Non Pro and €350-added Limited Non Pro. This is his fourth show season with the 8-year-old gelding by Mr Snapple and out of Colonel Mistress, bred by Fausto Mattioli. With Kelly Zweifel in the saddle, the gelding was IRHA Futurity Open finalist and NRHA European Futurity Open finalist. After showing cutting horses, Thomas Ramstorfer started with reining four years ago. With Colonel Snapple between the reins, he was European Derby finalist in Manerbio and won the Intermediate Open ancillary class offered at the 2012 NRHA European Affiliate Championship. He now trains under the guidance of Miroslav Baniari.
“It is such a pleasure to show here,“ said Thomas after his run. “I’ve shown cutters in the Ostbayernhalle before but have never shown a reining horse here … until today. My horse was simply fantastic! He’s so good minded and is always giving me his best. I’m so glad we won.”
In the Arcese Intermediate Non Pro, two riders tied for second place scoring a 210.5: Sonja Lubas aboard Smokin Mifillena (Mifillena x Gunners Doll Face) and Corinna Schumacher aboard Sparkin Tinsel (Tinsel Nic x Setting Off Sparks). In the Limited Non Pro, Vanety Korbus and her SES Topsail Whiz (Tivio Tucker Chex x Whiz A Holly) placed second scoring a 210.
